Cricket betting at taka vate — bet on every match from BPL to the T20 World Cup
In Bangladesh, cricket is more than a sport — it is a passion. Bet on thousands of markets across T20, ODI and Test cricket at taka vate, follow live odds, and enjoy every moment of the game even more.
Cricket's three formats and the tournaments Bangladeshis love
Cricket's three international formats — T20, ODI and Test — each offer a different experience from a betting perspective. A T20 match ends in just a few hours, so odds move fast after every over and wicket. In ODI cricket, strategy across a 50-over innings matters more, while in a Test match conditions can turn in many directions over five days — a draw, a win or a loss are all possible.
The most familiar tournament for Bangladeshi fans is the BPL — Bangladesh Premier League — where the country's top cricketers play together in franchise teams. When matches are held in Dhaka, excitement runs through the whole city. IPL is equally popular among local fans. The T20 World Cup and ICC Champions Trophy generate special interest in the Bangladesh Tigers' performance at the international level.
Football is also available for betting, particularly for Premier League, La Liga or English Championship matches. Unlike cricket, football includes draws as a separate outcome, so odds are divided across three possibilities — Team A wins, Team B wins, or a draw. In limited-overs cricket there are no draws, which makes betting relatively straightforward.
Popular cricket betting markets — how they work
Cricket betting does not have to stop at "who will win." taka vate offers a range of markets to bet on — each with its own characteristics.
Match Winner
A bet on which of the two teams will win the match. For example: in a T20, if Team A wins your bet is successful; if Team B wins you lose. There are no draws in limited-overs cricket, so the market is straightforward.
Toss Winner
A bet on which team wins the toss before the match starts. The result is completely independent — it has no bearing on the rest of the match. Odds are therefore roughly even.
Top Batsman
A bet on which batsman will score the most runs for a given team. For example: who scored the most runs for Team A. Odds differ across the multiple options available.
Total Runs Over/Under
A bet on whether total runs in the match will be above (over) or below (under) a set number. For example: will total runs exceed 330? Pitch and weather conditions are relevant factors.
Top Wicket-Taker
A bet on which bowler will take the most wickets. In T20 pace bowlers are prominent, while in ODI or Test cricket spinners play a bigger role — the odds in this market reflect that.
Multi Bet (Accumulator)
The odds from several markets are multiplied together into a single bet. For example: three selections across three separate matches all need to win — if even one is wrong the whole bet loses, but if all are correct the return is much larger.
How to read odds in three formats
Odds on a betting site can be displayed in three ways — decimal, fractional and American. taka vate generally uses the decimal format because it is the easiest to understand.
| Format | If Team A wins (example) | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Decimal | 3.00 | Total return of ৳3 for every ৳1 staked |
| Fractional | 2/1 | ৳2 profit for every ৳1 staked, plus the original stake back |
| American | +200 | ৳200 profit on a ৳100 bet |
Example 1 — betting on Team A to win (৳200 stake)
Decimal 3.00 = Fractional 2/1 = American +200. If the bet wins, the return is ৳600 (৳400 profit + ৳200 stake). If the bet loses, ৳200 is gone.
Example 2 — betting on favourite Team B to win (৳200 stake)
Decimal 1.50 = Fractional 1/2 = American -200. A negative American odds figure means how much you need to stake to make ৳100 profit. A ৳200 bet returns ৳300 (৳100 profit).
How combined odds are calculated in a multi bet
In a multi bet, the odds of each selection are multiplied together. If three separate bets have odds of 1.40, 1.60 and 1.90, the combined odds are:
1.40 × 1.60 × 1.90
= 4.26
(rounded to the nearest decimal)
That means a ৳100 bet returns ৳426 — but only if all three selections are correct. If even one loses, the entire ৳100 is gone. A multi bet offers the chance of a larger return, but the risk is also higher.
Betting is for entertainment — it is not a source of income. Read the responsible gaming guidelines and stay within your set budget.
Odds shift when a wicket falls — live in-play betting
You can place bets even after a match has started — that is in-play or live betting. In cricket this approach is particularly useful because the situation changes after every wicket, over or boundary.
Say the odds were roughly even at the start of the match. If Team A loses 3 wickets quickly in the first 5 overs, odds immediately shift in favour of Team B. There is an opportunity to place a new bet in light of this changed situation.
In T20 cricket odds can update after every over. In ODI cricket, a significant shift can come after the powerplay or when a team's run rate falls behind in the middle overs. In Test cricket, pitch behaviour, weather and conditions on the fifth day make live betting more complex and varied.
Staying composed during live betting is important — do not bet beyond your budget in the heat of the moment.
Some practical tips for cricket betting
- Understand the format before betting: T20, ODI and Test each have different characteristics. Even a low-scoring T20 can turn suddenly. In ODI and Test cricket, a patient approach tends to work better.
- Set a budget before you start: Decide how much you will bet in each session beforehand. If you lose a match, do not try to recover that loss on the next one.
- Vary your markets: Look beyond just the Match Winner — explore Top Batsman or Over/Under markets too. Variety makes betting more enjoyable.
- Be careful with multi bets: Even when the combined odds look large, getting every selection right is difficult. Keep your stake small on multi bets.
- Act quickly in live betting: Odds change fast in in-play betting. Keep a clear head when making decisions under pressure.
- Betting is for entertainment: Betting is meant to add to the enjoyment of watching cricket. Winning and losing are both normal — do not fall into the trap of chasing losses by betting more.
Understanding Handicap and Over/Under
In a handicap market, the weaker team is given a notional advantage — expressed in runs or wickets. In this type of bet, the margin of victory matters more than the final result of the match.
In an Over/Under market, the bookmaker sets a number — such as total runs in the first innings. The bettor bets on whether the actual figure will be higher (over) or lower (under) than that number.
These markets are explained in words without giving any example stakes or returns.
